Dr Parampalli Narasimha Mayya (63), principal of Sharada College here and former lecturer in Kannada at Roshni Nilaya School of Social Work, passed away following a heart attack at his Shiva Bagh residence on Saturday, Dec 8.
Fondly known in literary and socially circles as 'Pa Na Mayya', he had served for two decades at Roshni Nilaya, where he also held regular workshops in learning basic Kannada for the benefit of non-Kannada students.
He was born on 8 July 1950 and retired on 31 July 2010. He expired on 8 December 2012. Married on 18 November 1974 and has two children, a boy and a girl.
He became Principal of Sharada college after his retirement. He was a writer in Kannada. In Roshni he was instrumental in promoting Kannada Sangha and directed Kannada plays for college day every year. He was also NSS Officer. He was the master trainer for continuing education programmes and other literacy programmes.
