AMUCT Annual General Body Meeting held on June 30, 2013 at 3.00 p.m in Eric Mathias Hall at St Aloysius College, discussed  and passed resolutions on  following issues :


Non- Payment of Membership Subscription: The president raised the issue of the non-payment of the Annual Membership Fee / Subscription by a few units during the last two or more years continuously to the association. The members expressed their discontent about the non- payment of annual subscription by these units in spite of obtaining benefits of various kinds from AMUCT. It was resolved to write to the concerned colleges about the unhappiness of AMUCT and requesting them to pay the pending annual subscription / membership fee to the association immediately. It was also decided to welcome unaided teachers serving under the jurisdiction of Mangalore University to the association and take up their issues.

Erratic Valuation: Sri K Sadashiva Rao, Principal, Poornaprajna College, Udupi raised the issue of Erratic Revaluation of III semester Marketing Management answer script pertaining to the examinations held during October 2012. Dr. A M Narahari, Dr. Ummappa Poojary, Sri Vincent Alva, Ms. Chethana and other members participated in the discussion and gave their opinion and suggestions. Sri B.V. Raghundan, former President spoke on beneficial valuation. Finally the following resolutions in this regard were passed:
Resolved to request Mangalore University to assign the work of revaluation to the Teaching faculty of Mangalore University only, and not to the Teaching faculty of any other Universities. The University is required to identify, in consultation with the Chairman of the concerned BOE, a panel of reliable and experienced examiners in each subject;
The revaluation work should be done under the supervision of the Chairman of the concerned BoE and should be on the lines of Central Valuation as per the scheme of valuation prepared by the Chief Examiner of the respective paper.
If the marks awarded on revaluation are less than the marks obtained by the student in first valuation, the higher marks must be retained. By this the fear of failing on revaluation may be removed. Otherwise the students may be dissuaded from applying for revaluation.
It was also decided to get the information from the university regarding:
Number of students who had applied for improvements in the last 3rd Sem.?
Number of students who failed or got less marks in revaluation?.

Common Text Book: Mr Hayavadana Upadya , Former President of AMUCT raised the issue of the proposal of Mangalore University to introduce common text books for the language subjects in degree courses. While expressing his discontent, he requested the house to oppose the move on behalf of the Federation of Language Associations. It was decided to take up this issue and protect the interests of the language teachers.
Filling up of Approved Vacancies and Bringing new combinations / courses and Colleges Under Grant –in-aid: It was resolved to request the government to fill up the vacancies in aided colleges and bring new courses / combinations and colleges into grant-in-aid to provide quality education at affordable fee.

Minimum Strength of Students: In view of the series of circulars / orders issued by the Department of Collegiate Education on the minimum strength of students, it was resolved after a comprehensive discussion to request the Government to consider the minimum strength of students per subject and not per combination.

Separate Annual Convention and AGM: In any other matter, the President proposed to organise the AMUCT Annual Convention on Higher Education and AGM separately so that General Body will get sufficient time to discuss various issues. The members accepted the move.

Decreasing Membership and Appreciation: The Vice President of AMUCT Dr Kumara Hegde, expressed his concern towards decreasing membership in AMUCT day by day due to retirement and not filling up of vacant posts. He appreciated the commendable work done by the President and all the Office Bearers to strengthen AMUCT and resolve the issues of the members .
