Mangalore, Sept6

Sri J. R. Lobo, the MLA of Mangalore South Constituency visited Amuct office at Dongarakeri, Mangalore on September 6, 2014 during the Managing Council Meeting of Amuct to convey the wishes of teachers Day. On this occasion he interacted with the Managing Council members of Amuct for nearly One and a half hour.

On behalf of the  teachers Dr Hayavadana Upadhya, Dr Ummappa Poojary , Dr Vasappa Gowda and President of Amuct Dr Norbert Lobo pointed out the some of the issues affecting the day to day functioning of the Aided College teaching and non teaching Staff. They expressed their anguish and disappointment about the nonpayment of last two months salary by the department of collegiate education. The issues of notional increment, redeployment of teachers, payment of double the standard fees collected by the managements of the colleges, tagging of salary to these issues are the reasons given for nonpayment of salary to the teachers. The teachers also pointed out that the collegiate education department is blackmailing the principals and teachers by issuing illogic, inhuman and unscientific circulars and forces the Principals of aided colleges to obey them as orders. Teachers expressed their distress for withholding the salary and persistent unnecessary delay in releasing the salary since March 2014 onwards. Further teachers pointed out that the higher officers of the Department of Higher Education though promise immediate action nothing concrete takes place in this regard. Instead blame –game is going on ever since these issues have been cropped up.   Teachers requested the esteemed MLA to arrange a meeting  with the Higher Education Minister and give a hearing to Teachers’ concerns. Managing Council also requested the honourable MLA the need for changing the Karnataka University Act and to give representation to College teachers in University Bodies like Academic Council, Syndicate and appoint them to administrative posts.
