Mangalore, Dec 20: The 28th Statutory Conference of AIFUCTO from December 18-20, 2015, at Ambaji Gujarat. The Conference focused on various aspects of higher education & urgent social issues in India including the following:
1. The professional issues including the refusal of the Govt. to constitute a UGC pay review committee and solve API problem.
2. The utter deprivation of sections of teachers called variously as part time teachers or contractual teachers or self-financing teachers or guest teachers.
3. The agenda of nationwide agitation program against the MHRD policies & inaction.
4. The opposition to ongoing privatisation & commercialisation of higher education.
5. The impending threat from Govt. of India implementing WTO/GATS provisions.
6. Huge number of vacant posts, poor infrastructure in universities and colleges.
7. The lack of democratic governance in educational institutions
8. Campaign for plurality, tolerance, peace & harmony.
9. Joint program with civil society & trade unions
A National Seminar on: “New Education Policies-Prospects & Challenges” was also organized as a part of the Conference.
