AMUCT RESOLUTIONS passed on 30th AGM held on July 24, 2016

1.Resolved to request/urge the university not to allow retired teachers to be appointed as the Principals/directors/administrators of colleges or P G centres coming under its purview.

Explanation: At present colleges or PG centres coming under Mangalore university are allowed to appoint retired teachers till the age of 65 years as Principal s/Directors or Administrator s to the colleges or PG centres. Because of this young eligible teachers will be deprived of the opportunities to get appointed to these positions. Thus Amuct urges Mangalore University to make suitable amendments to the existing provisions in this regard.

2.Resolved to request the university to follow a common Academic Calendar for Affiliated Colleges and Autonomous Colleges under Mangalore university jurisdiction

Explanation: Students of Autonomous Colleges deprive of the opportunities to take part in sports and extracurricular activities. Moreover, the Department of Collegiate Education recognises only the academic calendar of University and not the calendar of Autonomous Colleges.

3.Resolved to request university to introduce common ranking list for the affiliated colleges as well as autonomous colleges.

Explanation: At present only the rank list of University is recognised for scholarship to pursue P.G studies and the students of Autonomous Colleges are deprived of this opportunity.

4.Resolved to request university to liberalise its statutes related to Autonomous status to the colleges so that more and more colleges would apply for the same in the future.

Explanation: Since 2007 only 5 colleges have accepted  autonomous status under Mangalore University. Other colleges have not come forward due to the  stringent regulations of the University related to autonomy .

5.Resolved to request Mangalore University to stop all kinds of Outsourcing related to End Semester Examination related work.

Explanation: Violation of examination secrecy and sanctity

6.Resolved to urge the Collegiate Education department not to insist on to apply for Earned Leave when the teachers are going abroad during vacation.

Explanation: Autonomous colleges follow separate calendar of events

7.Resolved to request the government to fill up the vacancies in aided colleges and bring new courses / combinations and colleges into grant-in-aid to provide quality education at affordable fee.

8.Resolved to request the Government to extend all the schemes and facilities adopted for government college students to aided and private college students.

9.Resolved to urge the University to insist on minimum scale for the Management Staff working in affiliated colleges. The affiliation team of the University should insist on this condition before granting/ continuing affiliation.

Explanation: In many institutions under Mangalore University, the management  appointed Teaching staff working full time  are paid a very meagre salary of less than Rs 10,000 per month. In many states granting affiliation  is tied to salary and other benefits to staff.

10.Resolved to urge the University to speed up the results so that the students would apply for the PG courses of other Universities.

11.Resolved to urge the University to fix the maximum number of student strength in the class room to 60.

Explanation: In many Degree Colleges class strength is sometimes 80 to 100. This classroom strength is unscientific. Individual attention cannot be given as a result there will be injustice to the students and quality of teaching. Secondly many colleges may have to lose their strength to other colleges as happened in the case of BBM and B A sections of few colleges.

12.Resolved to appreciate the service rendered by Dr Norbert Lobo, the President of Amuct and the office bearers for the  last four years. During his tenure Amuct has been recognised at National level through AIFUCTO Statutory conference and other academic activities .
