Mangalore, June 30

The Convention of AMUCT  on Higher Education held on June 30, 2013 at St Aloysius College, Mangalore was a grand success. Sri U.T. Khader, Minister for Health and Family Welfare was the chief guest. He recalled his olden days in the colleges and thanked teachers for shaping him during those days. He also promised that he would  discuss any issues related to teachers in the cabinet as well as in the Legislative Assembly.

Dr  B L Bhagyalakshmi, the Director of Collegiate Education Bangalore was the Guest of Honour. She stated that the commiittee recomendations on the pending issues of teachers relating to API, creation of Professors's posts as well as appointing Principals in the Degree colleges are submitted to the government and very soon these issues will be solved.

Dr A.M Narahari highlighted the issues pertaining to teachers at student level, teacher level as well as at the level of System as a whole. He urged that there must be serious discussion on entire Higher Education System and teachers to be invited as stakeholders. 

Earlier AMUCT  Bulletin was released by Sri U.T. Khader and honoured the Bulletin and AMUCT  Website Editor, Dr Denis Fernandes. 

Dr Norbert Lobo, president of AMUCT  welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of the day. Dr Purushothama K.V , General Secretary of AMUCT  proposed vote of thanks

In the second session, the guests of honour,  Dr Devananda Gaonkar, Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Mangalore,  Sri C.H. Murigendrappa, President FUCTAK, Sri K.M. Nagaraj, General Secretary, FUCTAK,  Sri Bhagyavana Mudigoudra, Gen.Secretar, KGCTA  addressed the teachers on various issues on HIgher Education.


 

The programmed was presided over by Rev Fr. Swebert D'Silva, Principal, St Aloysius College, Mangalore. He urged the officials as well as Universities to trust the teachers and appreciate the good work done by them. He also congratulate AMUCT  on its service to the teaching community.

During the Second  Session AMUCT  honoured Retired Teachers as well as  teachers on their achievements in the academic field. Around 250 members of AMUCT were present for  the Convention.
