Mangaluru, June 19, 2016: The Fourth MCM of AMUCT for the year 2015-16 held on June 18 .2016 at AMUCT Office has decided to arrange the Annual General Body Meeting of AMUCT 2016 on July 24, 2016 at St Agnes College, Mangaluru. It was also decided to felicitate all the retired members during the academic year 2015-16 and honour the distinguished members for their personal achievements.
The members also approved the audited statement of accounts for the year 2015-16 and the budget for the year 2016-17 presented by the Treasure Mr Charles Pais and the annual report of the General Secretary prepared by Dr Lakshminarayan A.
Earlier the President Dr Norbert Lobo briefed the house the recent developments in the field of Higher Education and its consequences. The major issues are- submission of a memorandum containing the Amuct demands to the Education Minister and the response to the memorandum received from the PS to the Hon’ble Education Minister, the positive developments like initiation of the process of appointment of teachers in aided colleges, Release of pending UGC arrears, successful organization of the Annual Convention of Amuct , Official visits to RJD office and discussion regarding the service matters of the members, Ph. D increments, release of arrears, delay in disbursal of salary, meeting University Authorities regarding End Semester Result irregularities, appointment of Dr. Norbert Lobo to the high power committee by the Mangalore University, participation and support to PU teachers strike, continuous ongoing struggle by AIFUCTO at New Delhi and the constitution of UGC pay review committee, clarification to principal post, amendments to API, visit to English valuation center to enlighten about CBCS and introduction of CBCS to PG courses.
The members unanimously also observed that outsourcing of examination related work by the University has reduced the sanctity of the examination and is responsible for gross violation of the secrecy and accountability there by resulting in repeated large number of inconsistencies and irregularities even in the ongoing. Members unanimously expressed their fears and concerns. It was resolved to write to the University the concerns and issues raised by the members.
The President Dr Norbert Lobo welcomed the gathering and the house observed a minutes silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls of Dr KK Vijayalaxmi, Professor Applied Zoology of Mangalore University, Dr P A Rego, Finance Officer (I.C) and Professor of Economics and Prof. De.Jaware. Gowda (De Ja Gow’), Veteran Kannada writer and former Vice-Chancellor of University of Mysore. General Secretary read the minutes of the previous meeting and proposed vote of thanks.
