Dear Friends,
We are all aware that AIFUCTO has entrusted a greater responsibility on our shoulder, i.e, to host the 27th Statutory Conference in Mangalore. AMUCT has organized several conferences in the past but they were all limited to state level. In all these conferences, the members of AMUCT along with their conveners at the unit level have supported AMUCT whole heartedly. Majority of our members participated in the annual conventions of the association and expressed solidarity with the teachers’ movement.
Keeping in mind the support and enthusiasm of the members of AMUCT, our leaders have accepted the responsibility of organizing a national level conference in Mangalore which is normally held in metropolitan cities. AMUCT got this opportunity merely because of its structured and disciplined way of functioning which has already been noticed by the AIFUCTO leadership.
The conference will be attended by more than 1500 delegates from all over India and abroad. Providing a decent accommodation for all these delegates is the greatest challenge before us. The total cost of the conference may go up to 35 lakhs. From delegates we may get only 12 lakhs and the remaining amount we have to raise through donations, advertisement and generous contributions of our own members. Also there required man power to work in various committees. At the same time, this conference is an opportunity for our members to present scholarly papers on issues related to higher education and to write articles in the souvenir which will be released in the Conference.
We all know that the role played by AIFUCTO in getting the 2006 revised UGC scales for the college and University teachers all over India. At the same time in the state, the then president of FUCTAK, Dr A.M. Narahari, had put great efforts to implement the MHRD order in toto in Karnataka. Now we are reaping the benefit from these facilities provided to us. Dr A.M. Narahari involved himself in the teachers’ movement since the inception of AMUCT. At the fag-end of his teaching career we got an opportunity in the form of AIFUCTO Conference to recognize and appreciate his yeoman service to the teaching community. Let us accept this organising responsibility and honour him by making this conference a grand success.
Moreover, such conferences will strengthen teachers’ movement and encourage unity among the teachers which is wanting now a day. Added to it, AMUCT will become a household name among the college teachers all over India. Therefore, let us make this event a memorable one by involving ourselves in every possible way. Long live teachers’ movement.
